Accuracy in battle is an important key to victory, every bit as important as how hard you can hit. BattleMaster Gerix is willing to teach you how to become more accurate with your breath attack, but he will need you to prove your skills first.

Quest text[edit]

Gerix tells you, Very good, <player>. Accuracy is a skill you must learn if you wish to fight more powerful enemies... I learned from the Master, Luadius the Accurate, long ago. Why, years ago he and I had a... contest. You see, there was this herd of gruok... and we... well... what happened to the village just can't be helped... um... nevermind... I will teach you the skills he taught me because without it... well, let us just say that I would not want to run on your scales.

  • Teach me, BattleMaster

Gerix tells you, Alright, don't shout and scare the naka, young one. Precision when breathing fire is largely a matter of repetition. Breathe, breathe, breathe, that is what Luadius used to say... a lot. There are other methods to improve your accuracy in addition to practice, however, and that is what I will show you.

  • Where do I begin?

Gerix tells you, You begin by traveling to the Saris town of Parsinia. If you have already visited it then your journey will be quick, but otherwise you must take the road west out of town and along the western coast of the island. It is not an easy journey, so be on your guard. Speak to Vortis, the gatekeeper in Parsinia.

  • How does that help me become more accurate?

Gerix tells you, Patience, young one. You will be traveling to and through Parsinia many times in your adventures, therefore attuning to this town will make it much easier for you in the future. Now, you will be practicing the accuracy of your breath weapon by attempting to draw out the breeders that wander near the nests. These spiders, known as Forest Crawler, are among the most vicious of all the spiders in the forests, but I trust in your abilities. It will be good practice for you, but be careful, for the soldiers are aggressive and may rush in to help! Seek out Vortis in Parsinia for directions to the spider nests.

Vortis tells you, Ah, so you are seeking the spider's nests themselves, eh? A brave soul you must be. Finding the spiders is easy enough. Simply take the road north from town, and when the path turns inland up the hill, continue to follow the road there. You'll make your way past many of the smaller spiders and head deep into the forest before finding the Forest Crawler Breeders, though.

Welcome back, <player>. You did well and should be commended. Fighting those breeders, with their brood of hatchlings, and the danger of the soldiers lurking nearby. That is not for the faint of heart or the weak! Well done. You truly are gaining better accuracy with your breath weapon, and that skill shows.

Steps[edit]

  • Speak with BattleMaster Gerix
  • Speak with Private Vortis in Parsinia. Parsinia can be reached on foot by traveling out the western gate of Kion and following the shoreline. If you have been to Parsinia previously, you will be able to teleport directly there. If not, travel on foot and speak to Private Vortis there after getting your directions to the spider nests so that you can travel there faster in the future.
  • Defeat eight (8) Forest Crawler Breeders. Take the road north out of Parsinia and turn east up the hill past the sandstone mines. You will have to make your way deep into crawler territory before finding any of the crawlers near the nests, but these are the crawlers Gerix has sent you for.
  • In order to gain more accuracy with your breath weapon, you must successfully hit the crawler with Breath of Fire many times. (Use your Breath of Fire ability six (6) times during combat.)
  • Return to Kion and speak with BattleMaster Gerix about your training.
