The Journal of Falinthris describes how to create Skeleton Keys. However, it appears to be a real trial and Finagle Biggletorque needs your help to turn some lost documentation into a real product.

Quest text[edit]

Welcome back, <player>. I see you already have some experience at making keys. Would you be interested in helping me with a little project?

  • Tell me more.

Do you remember the Journal of Falinthris?

  • Yes, you told me you found a lot about keys and chests in this journal.

Precisely. The chapter regarding Skeleton Keys is fascinating. In it, Falinthris details how they are made, but it is quite a complex task and I am to replicate this process, I will need an experienced, and motivated, Tinkerer. Would you be this one?

  • It describes me pretty well.

It will require numerous resources and many of them cannot be created by a Tinkerer. You'll need to master some other trade schools or ask help from others. Still interested?

  • I... guess?

Listen to Finagle Biggletorque

Then let's get started! First resource on the list, an alloy of adamantium and mithril. I am not sure how to obtain this, but an experienced Miner should know. I suggest you speak Fulthas Oreseeker in Aughundell.

Greetings, Tinkerer. What can I do for you?

  • Would you know about an alloy of adamantium and mithril?

Visit Fulthas Oreseeker, the Miner trainer in Aughundell

Yes, pal. I know about it. It isn't an easy task, but I can sell the formula if you need it.

Acquire thirty (30) Adamantium-Mithril Bars. You can either craft them by yourself or trade them with another player or a Consigner.

Game Feedback: You have obtained the metal bars Finagle Biggletorque asked you for. Return to him.

You have returned. Let me see those bars.

  • Here they are.

Return to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath with the Adamantium-Mithril Bars

That's an interesting metal. It's sturdy, but it still needs to be hardened according to Falinthris. This is our next step. He claims that the bars need to be heated in a chemical bath. Sadly, he didn't specify what the bath was made from. We need the knowledge of an Alchemist on that matter. Barrakhen in Kirasanct is probably the one we need... if you can stand his ego, of course...

Welcome to the home of the great Barrakhen. What can this master Alchemist do for you, Tinkerer?

  • I'm looking for a chemical bath to harden metal.

It's an unusual request. I can only think of one bath for this purpose: the Solution of Majorita.

  • Where can I find it?

You are in luck, <player>! It happens that I have the formula for sale.

  • Fate is merciful...

Game Feedback: Barrakhen chuckles.

I must warn you, <player>, that while the bath isn't very hard to make if you are an experienced Alchemist, it does require several exotic resources. First, you need some Crystallized Travertine Bricks: the crystal imbues the metal with its power and the stone stabilizes the blend. However, to my knowledge, only Dragons can craft them. You should speak to Queriatia in Dralk.

Visit Grandmaster Barrakhen in the Citadel of Fiends, Kirasanct

Second, the bath needs to be prepared in a specific container: a Thornwood Bowl. It helps to potentialise the effect of the solution. I think Dalzar Straightshot in Aughundell should know more about it.

Speak to trainers to ask them about the exotic resources

Game Feedback: You have enough information about the resources. Now it's time to acquire the Solution of Majorita.

What are you doing here, naka? I can't teach to your kind to craft scales.

  • Where can I get Crystallized Travertine Bricks?

Crystallized Bricks are used to craft Imbued Scales. What could you do with them?

  • It's for a chemical bath: the Solution of Majorita.

Visit Queriatia, the Dragon Crafter trainer, in Dralk

I don't know what your Alchemists plot with Dragon resources. Anyway, I sell the formula to craft them. You will need a Dragon to make them for you... and that won't be me... pffff... now, get out of my sight.

Game Feedback: Queriatia snorts.

Hoy, <race>! Do you need a quality bow? A delicate chest of drawers for your home? Maybe a yew carving of your loved one?

  • Do you know about Thornwood Bowls?

Oh, these ones are special. Thornwood can be toxic and it isn't really suited for food, unless you treat the wood the right way. So they are usually used by Alchemists, but these crafters usually prefer the wood to be coated by its own sap then dried to have a better effect.

  • And where can I get them?

Visit Dalzar Straightshot, the Fletcher trainer, in Aughundell

I have the formula for sale! I'm always open for business.

Acquire one hundred fifty (150) samples of the Solution of Majorita. You can either craft them by yourself or trade them with another player or a Consigner.

Game Feedback: You have obtained enough of the chemical bath. Return to Finagle Biggletorque.

Have you found a suitable chemical bath for the metal bars?

  • Yes, but it wasn't a walk in the park. And you were right about Barrakhen.

Return to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath with the Solution of Majorita

At least you gave me some time to translate Falinthris' instructions into this formula. Please take it and harden these bars.

Create thirty (30) Hardened Adamantium-Mithril Bars

Game Feedback: You have hardened the metal bars. Speak with Finagle Biggletorque again.

With these hardened metal bars, we can work on the next step. We now need to enchant them.

  • Another step again? Are we really to craft keys or a new artifact against the Withered Aegis?

I told you it would be complex. And I'm just following Falinthris' instructions.

  • Fine! So, how can we enchant the bars?

We need to cast a spell on them. Using a scroll should be the easiest way to do it.

  • What kind of spell?

Sadly, Falinthris doesn't say much about it.

  • I thought his instructions were very detailed...

The Tinkerer parts are very detailed, but I admit we lack information about exotic resources. Maybe it was more obvious when the journal was written? Anyway, we will need a Scholar to help us. Speak to Jalthor Longbraid in Aughundell.

  • Aughundell again? Maybe you should have told me about it earlier as you have already sent me to this town!

Speak with Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath

Yes... yes... I'm sorry, but Aughundell is waiting for you now.

Greetings, Tinkerer. Do you wish to change your school and become a Scholar?

  • Not really. I'm looking for a way to enchant metal bars.

Enchanting resources? Shouldn't you speak to an Alchemist or an Enchanter?

  • I was told I needed a spell. Probably with a scroll. So I was sent to you.

Let me think for a moment... ah, I know! You could use Gozar's Blessing. I use several elemental energies mixed with raw Primal. I have a few formulas of it for sale, but demand is usually low.

  • My needs will raise it for a bit.

There are two things I need to warn you about. First, you need to have enough resources to enchant because the spell will consume a part of them.

  • What is the second thing I should know?

This scroll requires a copy of Meltanis' Prayer, but I don't have this formula anymore.

  • And where should I go for it?

Visit Jalthor Longbraid, the Scholar trainer, in Aughundell

Maybe Hameth Fireborn would know. You can find him in this hall.

Welcome to my shop, Gifted.

  • Have you ever heard about Meltanis' Prayer

Of course I do.

  • And let me guess... you have it for sale?

Haha, a cunning one!

  • That's something I have heard quite a bit today...

Let me guess: Jalthor sent you to me, didn't he?

  • Correct.

Speak to Hameth Fireborn, the Spellcraft Trainer, in Aughundell

I bought the prayer formulas stock from this old fool for a song after he knocked back a whole keg of Grenaden Ale! He was probably too hammered to even remember it, but now, that's with me you will do business.

Acquire twenty four (24) copies of Gozar's Blessing. You can either craft them by yourself or trade them with another player or a Consigner.

Game Feedback: You have enough scrolls to enchant your metal bars. Return to Delgarath now.

Return to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath

You arrive just in time, <player>: I have finished writing this formula to enchant the bars. Please take it and craft the resources we need.

Craft six (6) Enchanted Adamantium-Mithril Bars

Game Feedback: You have enchanted the metal bars. As Jalthor said, a good part of your Hardened Metal Bars were consumed during the process. Speak to Finagle Biggletorque again.

I see you managed to create the enchanted metal bars.

  • Yes, but I hope we'll be able to craft these keys soon. I have run enough for today.

There is only one step left before we can make some keys. We need to give the metal the proper shape now. You already know how to make keys, so you won't be surprised to learn you need to craft a mold for that. Take this formula.

  • Yes, this is familiar to me.

So, you should also know you need a pattern to create a mold. I managed to create some from Falinthris' instructions. You can take this one... for free this time.

  • Don't tell me...

Speak with Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath

Hey. These patterns were really difficult to create. I need to invest a lot of time for it and I also need to run my shop. Now, stop babbling and make this mold: I can't wait to see a new Skeleton Key! I heard you could find Porcelain, required for the mold, in the Eastern Deadlands.

Craft a Skeleton Key Mold

Game Feedback: Finagle Biggletorque should be pleased with this mold. Speak to him again.

Speak to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath

This is it! We are so close, <player>. While you were crafting this mold, I could write down Falinthris' last instructions into a formula. Please take it and create your first Skeleton Key!

Craft a Skeleton Key with the Enchanted Adamantium-Mithril Bars and the Skeleton Key Mold

Game Feedback: That was a long way, but you now have a Skeleton Key crafted with your own skills. Show it to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath.

A newly made Skeleton Key... it is unbelievable, <player>. This knowledge was completely lost and thanks to your help we are able to make some again. What a wonderful day!

  • That was quite a struggle.

Show the Skeleton Key you have crafted to Finagle Biggletorque in Delgarath

It was worth it. Now you can open Locked Boxes you find on monsters. Lucky you. I'm sure you will make quite some profit with these keys, but don't forget to return to me if you need patterns: you'll share a part of your success with me, hehe.
