Sandstone Strength Chest Scale

Now that she's sure you know the basics, Kerian is going to test your skills by teaching you the more complicated realm of techniques, sockets, and spells.

Quest text[edit]

Alright, dragon. Go out and make me one socketed Bronze-Sandstone Armor Chest Scale, two Bronze-Sandstone Health Wing Scales with a dragon breath technique, and a few Prime Bolt spells. What're you staring at me for? Go!

You... you don't know how to socket or technique? And you've never made a spell?! What are they teaching you these days in Skalkaar?! Useless nonsense, I imagine! Perhaps some propaganda from those "neutral" factions - or shall I say the scared scoundrels who deny the tradition of ascending under the blessing of Lunus or Helian?! Grr!

Alright, alright... it looks like I need to take up the reigns of teaching you these... basics. First, I want you to gather me what I need for a socket. Let's start there. Take this technique and go gather what's listed on it.

You have received 1 Technique: Armor Socketing.

Hello again, <player>. May I help you? Directions to the copper and tin! That is simple enough.

Copper and tin veins are plentiful up in the northern mountains. Take the road northwest out of town and follow it until it forks. Turn right at the fork and keep right - you should find your metals there.

You have created the bronze bars!

By Drulkar... what is it now? Wait, let me guess - you don't know how to find or create Dim Essence Orbs. I'm right? We need to throw Jemenoth back into the Realm of Fire at this rate! Hatchling, Dim Essence Orbs are crafted from Dim Essence itself. You harvest this essence from Dim Wisps. They are creatures of magic, roaming the countryside aimlessly.

On New Trismus, these wisps congregate at the base of the waterfall. Do you remember where you gathered Sandstone earlier? Go back there and follow the lake out to the waterfall. Glide off the cliff and you should see them and an Essence Channeler nearby. Go and gather the essence from the wisps and then condense it into orbs using this formula.

You have received 1 Formula: Beginner Essence Orb.

No, you will not hurt the wisps. They screech at being touched, but don't be alarmed; the noise is normal. You'll get used to it. As long as you don't hit them with your claws too hard, they'll just float off and create more essence over time. Actually, be especially careful not to kill them - if you gather from their corpses, you'll get tainted essence, which is useless to us. Now, go and make some orbs.

You have the materials, I see. Good. Now, I need you to use these resources to make a socket on a Bronze Dexterity Chest Scale. I chose something that hopefully sounds less confusing to... simpletons. You see, not all scales will be made with one material. For example, those focused on health and armor require both a stone and a metal to function properly for us. Dexterity is not one of those and should be easier for you to work with.

You have received 1 Formula: Beginner Dexterity Chest Scale.

To add a technique to a scale - be it a socket like this or a more specialized technique - you must apply the materials when you are creating the scale. Not after! Some special techniques can be applied after the scale is made, but those are usually not very common. Go on now! You have created the scale! Well done! Return to Kerian.

Let me see that scale. Rounded edges, nice etchings, clear cuts... good. It's up to snuff for a first tier crafter. Here, you can keep it - you'll need it in the future. Now let's get you learning about how to make other kinds of techniques.

Steps[edit]

  • Listen to Kerian
  • (Optional) Speak to Steward Pratt McGrubben for clarification on how to reach the Copper and Tin veins.
  • Gather the material for and craft four (4) Bronze Bars. The Copper and Tin veins are to the north of the town.
  • You now need to create Essence Orbs. Speak to Kerian for clarification on how to gather this resource.
  • Craft two (2) Dim Essence Orbs. Kerian told you that the Dim Essence is at the base of the waterfall on the south end of New Trismus, nearby the Sandstone.
  • Return to Kerian with your Bronze Bars and Dim Essence Orbs.
  • Create a Bronze Dexterity Chest Scale with the Armor Socketing technique. All formulas are available from Kerian if you have misplaced yours.
  • Return to Kerian with your new scale.
