Quest text[edit]

Pratt is sending you to help the town at large.

Step 1: Speak with Pratt.

Pratt: Hello again, Player! I'm glad to see you are ready to fight for the Empire. It surely will not be the last time you will be called to arms against the undead. Allow me to catch you up. The island, New Trismus, is under siege by the Invae, a faction of Withered Aegis that seeks to destroy our way of life. Many years ago, the Aegis invaded; I remember it clearly - it was my wedding night, after all.

Player: That's terrible timing.

Pratt: I've learned to live with it. My wife survived, but unfortunately, many of the residents did not. Past the walls to the northeast lies the ruins of an ill fated expansion of the town and beyond, to the south, a graveyard. We were so hopeful in those days. We thought we were safe - but no one's ever safe when the Aegis shares your land.

Player: It appears you recovered, at least.

Pratt: We did, but we also learned our lesson. We know we are not safe and now guards patrol day and night. Many still have the image of the burned-out husk this town once was engraved in their minds. <He pauses.>

Player: May I help you in any way?

Pratt: For now, you can try to recover stolen items. The Invae Pillagers have been finding and stealing mementos of the folks that lived here. Go and speak with Guard-Captain Zandra. She keeps watch over the undead from the outer wall in the northeast. She'll be able to tell you more about where you can find these greedy Pillagers and how to handle them.

Step 2: Find and speak with Guard-Captain Zandra at the wall in the northeast.

Zandra: Hello - are you one of our new Gifted? It is nice to meet you, Dragon. I am Guard-Captain Zandra. I command all of the guards on this island, and for now, a good lot of the warriors. The Empire is in short supply with the war on the eastern end of Aradoth; it's always a blessing to have new Gifted stumble out of the islands, even if half of you can't cut a grape, nevermind a zombie.

Player: Nice to meet you, Guard-Captain. I am Playername. Pratt requested I fight some Invae Pillagers.

Zandra: Pillagers? Is he still trying to find Elainor's wedding band? I doubt it will ever show up again. Bet it's melted to scrap metal by now... *She sighs.* The pillagers are risen corpses - they linger around the road and the ruined buildings waiting for an unlucky individual to cross their path. However, I imagine they shouldn't be too difficult for you, since you can just come back to life if you get killed.

Step 3: Kill Invae Pillagers and loot five Stolen Mementos in the Rotting Reach. 0/5

(Invae Raiders on the northeast road out of Trismus, past Zandra, share the same spawn timer as the pillagers. You will need to kill them to keep the pillagers spawning. Continue until you have gotten all 5 mementos.)

Step 4: Return to Pratt.

Pratt: Welcome back, Player! What have you found? A wedding ring, perhaps, in the rubble?

Player: No, though I did find a necklace.

Pratt: *His face falls, but he looks curious.* A necklace? *He takes it.* Hmm... I'm not familiar with the owner of this, but perhaps Devan Teater knows. He's the tavernkeep - if anyone's heard a tale of a lost necklace, it'd be him.

Step 5: Speak with Devan Teater, the Tavernkeep. The Tavern lies beyond the pad, next to the dragon cave where the road splits.

Devan: Oi there! How's it? You coming in for a beer or spirits? Maybe some raost gruok? First meal comes with a free drink! *He winks.* Ah, right, perhaps you're one of them Gifted types. I hear you don't need to eat! *He laughs.* By my beard, that sounds like a miserable life - nothing beats a hot meal when you're hungry. I have heard a rumor that food can help you recover quicker after multiple deaths, however. Somethin' about soothin' the soul?"

Player: I'm actually here about this necklace I found on an Invae pillager.

Devan: Huh! Let me see that. *He looks closely at it.* Hmmm... I think this belonged to THeodore's wife. She lost her life during one of the raids, despite his efforts to save her. HE is quite a reserved man, but I'm pretty sure he'd appreciate gettin' his wife's necklace back.

Step 6: Speak with Imperial Mender Theodore. He is in the circular building across from the merchants and vaultkeeper.

Theodore: Welcome, Gifted - do you need a poison cleared from your system? Or perhaps a spell to protect yourself? You are safe from poisons on this island, but the venomous bites of spiders are very dangerous on the Lesser Aradoth. Be prepared!

Player: Thank you, but I have something for you. <You hand over the necklace.>

Theodore: Oh, this is... This is Samintha's. I gave this to her on our first anniversary. I thought it was lost when she... *He clears his throat.* Thank you, Gifted. I don't know how I can repay you at this moment, but I will find a way.

Step 7: Return to Pratt.

Pratt: I see you found the owner. While we could not find what I was hoping for, I'm very glad we were able to bring some solace to Theodore. He puts so much heart into his work, but you can tell a lot of it is to mask a lost soul.
