Matching Stone Tablet, The Astronomer's Letter

Minisa is sending you after the one who she believes is the mastermind behind what is going on in both Deadpool and The Observatory.

Quest text[edit]

Minisa tells you, It is as I feared, <Player>. What is written on this tablet gives detailed directions for how to both make and use a cistern, a storage center, of power that will give the one who controls it enormous power, almost limitless. We must learn more, and learn why. I must ask you to return again to The Observatory. Continue to make your way to the center, destroy the automatons especially, for I believe they are the key. Once there hopefully you will find something, some indication of why such massive amounts of power are needed. Make your way to the very center of the ruins if you must, but find me something that reveals what is happening there.

You have looted 1 The Astronomer's Letter You found a folded piece of paper. An automated messenger perhaps? You take the paper from his clenched hand and read it...

Minisa tells you, The Master Astronomer, you say? I have never heard of anyone who calls himself that. The man, or being, or whatever he is, must truly be insane. Insane or not, he must be stopped. i believe I have found a way that you can deactivate permanently the power conduits that he has created. This liquid will react with the stone itself, melting it slowly. It does not appear to affect the structure of the vessel itself, merely the ability to store magical power inside. Take these vials and use the contents to destroy five of the power conduits. Once destroyed, this Master Astronomer should have lost much of the power he has gathered. Only by killing him will we know Dalimond is safe, though. Return to me when you have found and slain this Master Astronomer. I will speak to the council here in Dalimond about a suitable reward.

You've found the power conduits that Minisa talked about. Now open the vial of liquid and pour it into the center of the conduit and stand back...

The conduit begins to sizzle and smoke. You hear a loud pop and sparks fly out. After a moment, this same sound is heard from the conduit next to the one you've poured the liquid in and soon the next and the next. You step back and watch as one by one the glowing conduits explode!

As the glow fades from the last power conduit, you can only hope that Minisa was right and that this will affect this Master Astronomer. The very air around you vibrates with tainted magical power. If it is all within his control, then you are in for a very difficult battle...

The battle was well fought and victory is yours. Return to Minisa and tell her of your success...

Minisa tells you, He's dead?! Truly? Oh thank you <Player>! I knew you were the right person for the task. All who make their home in Dalimond are in your debt. Please, give me a few moments to consider a proper reward for you and talk to the other Librarians and we will reward you for your brave deed this day.

Steps[edit]

  • Return to the ruins of The Observatory and search for information.
    • There is no indication of what to fight in the quest, but Saronn the Risen King is one confirmed mob that dropped the quest item.
  • You've found the information Minisa sent you after. Someone who calls himself the Master Astronomer is building an army of automatons and using the power of The Observatory to control them. Obviously Dalimond is in trouble! Report to Minisa at once!
  • Return to the Observatory. Destroy the power conduits with the vial of liquid Minisa has given you before confronting the Master Astronomer. (You must go into the Observatory itself before using the vials given to you before you can continue on your quest.)
    • You'll have to go in through the eastern entrance to the Observatory, once you see the short green-glowing statues, you should be able to trigger this in that area.
  • Pour the liquid into the power conduit (Use the Vial of Mysterious Liquid from Minisa.)
    • Right click and use the 5 Vials of Mysterious Liquid. You don't have to go a different power conduit each time you use one and can use them essentially anywhere in the Observatory once the previous step is completed.
  • Kill the Master Astronomer. He is most likely found in the center of the Observatory itself.
  • You've killed the Master Astronomer. Minisa will be proud to hear of your victory. Return to her for your reward.
