Rare Ancient Dragon Artifact

At Khalatorin's request you uncovered additional artifacts, including a particularly rare and beautiful one that appears to have some magical energy still active within it. Now he wants you to speak with Karane, a respected scholar of Dragonkind, who is located north of Chiconis to learn more about the artifact.

Quest text[edit]

<player>, you have uncovered a rare artifact from the elder days of Dragonkind. Look at how it glows and holding it here I can almost "feel" it! It is truly amazing what the Dragons of old could do. *he glances at the nearby archaeologists* We must not let the naka-duskael know that we have it! Quickly, take the stone and go to Karane the Historian. She can be found north of Chiconis in her lair. We must discover more about its origins and if there are additional stones like this to be found.

<player>, why do you disturb my research? An urgent errand from Khalatorin? Indeed. Last I heard he was attempting to prevent the naka from disturbing ancient ruins on the Dalimond Ridge. If you are here, then it must mean that something rare or unexpected was found. Well, what was it?

A magical crystal? Most impressive, <player>. These are a rare find! See how it glows? The ancients possessed the secrets of crystalshaping, not just for lairs, but also for personal crystals. This one has certainly imbued with magical properties. That some still remain on the ridge is a surprise. Ever since the Great Schism the humans have plundered many regions of Istaria and so it is no wonder they now turn to the ruins on the ridge.

But, <player>, I am umfamiliar with the ruins there on the ridge. Their age and who resided there we should attempt to discern. There may be records still within my archives of the settlement. We shall begin at once!
