Shau grieves for the wife he loves and was forced to kill. He wishes to assist her in the afterlife by providing her with gifts of appeasement that she can give to Varrantoth to help sway his decision about her fate.

Quest text[edit]

One last gift and I believe that we shall have appeased my god and done much to ease Taur-el's passage in the afterlife. I have another idea for what to give to Varrantoth, if you will hear me out?

  • I will hear you.

Good, and once again I thank you. This final gift is no relic, but instead a sacred drink called Ara'torak. The sacred ale is brewed only on the peak of Mount Torak far to the east and can only be bottled at daybreak on the summer solstice.

  • One day, once a year?

He laughs.

Yes, <player>, the ale must be brewed in a particular location, on a certain day with a specific amount of daylight. Trust me when I say that it is truly the Brew of the gods and should you have an opportunity to taste any, you would likely agree. Nevertheless, in the east you would have to get it from Mount Torak itself.

  • Mount Torak?

I forget how little you know of Eastern Aradoth, my friend. Torak is one of the tallest mountains on the continent and there, clinging to the wind-blasted peak, is a temple inhabited by the Order of the Goda rin.

  • The who?

Pacifists, <player>. Welger who will not fight, even to save their own lives. They believe that all life is sacred, even that of the smallest creature. It is the Order that resides in the temple who brew Ara'torak and supply it to the Priests of Varrantoth.

  • How can we get to this temple?

You cannot, I am afraid. Not while the Great Barrier prevents travel between the two continents. Fortunately, my friend Taiwen was once a member of the Order and she may know where to acquire the ale here in the west. Rest assured, the priests brought some with them.

You have returned... What can Taiwen do for you this time?

  • I am looking for a Jug of Ara'torak

She laughs.

Surely, you jest? No? Perhaps you should. Ara'torak was incredibly rare and nearly unobtainable in the east when the Temple was accessible... Now? If there were ten jugs in the entirety of this Ruin, I would be surprised.

  • Where can I get one then? Shau needs it!

Shau? Well, that changes matters does it not? You are in luck, <player>, I happen to have a jug of Ara'torak that I would give to Shau, but first I need to know what he will use it for and then I require a few things from you. Do we have an agreement?

  • Yes, we do. Shau wants to give the Ara'torak as a Gift of Appeasement to Varrantoth for his dead wife, Taur-el

Taur-el is dead, you say? Well, I had heard rumors that she fought... oh that was you! That she fought in the arena, lost, and then vanished south into the sands.

  • Yes, she fought Shau and was killed

Yes, that happens frequently with him. Thank you, <player>, you have lived up to one half of the bargain. A gift of appeasement to Varrantoth explains much and, especially now, a jug of Ara'torak would be a powerful gift. For the other half of your bargain, I should like you to obtain a few items for me that cannot be found here within the Ruin.
