Jon is concerned about the beetle's population threatening his Island's crops. In the far west of the island you will find Greater Ulmus Beetles roaming. Help ease Jon's mind by culling the swarm.
Quest text[edit]
A moment, <player>? As the sole resident and gatekeeper of this island, I take great pride in my efforts to sustain a simple life. The crops you see nourish me while providing access for visitors such as yourself to explore and enjoy, away from the mainland. However, unlike yourself... I am no adventurer and have concerns over a pest that may threaten my hard worked crops!
- What kind of pest?
Beetles, <player>, especially the greater ones! They feed on plants and cause damage to crops, and if left unchecked they may roam beyond their grounds away from the far west of the island. Every day I watch the horizon, fearing when they will spread like wildfire to invade my eastern side. Some nights are restless with nightmares of them reaching my crops. It leaves me pleading to ask if you can help ease my mind if you're travelling westbound to thin some numbers... I would be ever so grateful!
- Of course I'll help so you can rest easy tonight.
Oh thank you <player>! Even just ridding ten of those beetles will ease my concerns and let my crops grow safely another day. Just travel far west and along the grass you should come across them! Also for proof that you've done the deed... bring me one Carapace for peace of mind. Remember, it's the Greater Ulmus Beetles that are the threat right now! Come back when you are finished.
You've returned, <player>! You can keep the Carapace, I just wanted to make sure since I couldn't witness you in action myself. You've given me a night of respite to a growing population of pests and for that I thank you. Tomorrow, if you have the time I could use your hand once more as the population of beetles is quick to rise. Be sure to come back another day!
