Spells are only one way to increase your abilities. Innate to all schools is the grand selection of stances.

Ulaven tells you, Hello, hello, Elteria! I'm sure you've noticed already that as a brand new Mage, you gained several abilities called stances. They can be a bit overwhelming, but I'll keep it simple. Stances are your fighting style; they give passive effects that can boost certain sides of combat. For example, being Alerted makes you attack faster, while Focused can help you hit more often and so forth.

Ulaven tells you, You can use whichever feels best to you. However, some abilities do get special benefits from stances, such as Incinerate. When in the red offensive stance, Incinerate does a lot more damage than usual and can prove beneficial to killing enemies quickly.

Ulaven tells you, I want you to use the Offensive Stance and Incinerate ability together on Wriggling Masses nearby the Lookout Camp. You might've passed them as you were heading to the Agh'kuk last time.
You have used the Offensive Stance! Now use Incinerate and go kill those Maggots.
That's enough maggots. Probably for a lifetime, honestly. Be sure to use Incinerate before returning.

Ulaven tells you, Haha, those nasty wriggling masses did not stand a chance! Incinerate is one of my favorite abilities, and having it boosted by an Offensive Stance is just a perfect combination.
Steps[edit]
- Speak with Ulaven the Mage.
- Use Combat Stance: Offensive.
- Kill five (5) Small Wriggling Masses. They squirm around the Lookout Camp on the western end of the island, nearby the Agh'kuk Scouts.
- Use Incinerate two (2) times.
- Return to Ulaven the Mage.
