A plague is threatening to spread across the land. You spoke with one of the so-called Prophets and, while boasting and proclaiming the glory of Nazderon, mentioned his brethren in the sands.
Quest text[edit]
Teana tells you, The information you gleaned from the Prophet's ravings may have more merit than expected, <player>. To the south within the Great Sandstorm is the Temple of Nazderon, a likely source of the threat, and the location where the Prophets and followers of this Cult gather.
Where is it?
Teana tells you, I am unfamiliar with the lay of the land and would be of little assistance navigating the wind-swept dunes and swirling sands within the storm. There is one here in town, however, that may prove to be of use. Sebpherut is who you should seek, he was once a devotee of the Cult a millennia ago.
Sebpherut tells you, Truly there are wonders in this world now. More than a thousand years of sleep and when we awake the world has shifted, more than I can fathom even!
What do you know of the Cult of Nazderon?
Sebpherut tells you, The Cult? Little other than the message these prophets are spreading and the rumors of a plague. Of Nazderon? I know much. You see, I was once a devotee, a follower, of Nazderon.
When?
Sebpherut tells you, Oh, this was a millennia or more ago before I went to sleep. His priests and followers in those days were treated well, pampered even, with food and drink and all manner of comforts. From this village to a posh temple, who could blame a person in those days, I ask?
What happened?
Sebpherut tells you, I got nervous is what happened. Others I shared drinks and laughs with vanished and I noticed a dark gleam in the eyes of the priests and guards. I do not know what was happening, but I dared not remain so one night I slipped out the window and fled the temple.
They never knew?
Sebpherut tells you, No, why would they? To them, I was simply one more fanatic who had left his family and village to follow Nazderon. And, I guess, to become something worse in time... A prophet? A sacrifice? I do not know.
Where was this temple?
Sebpherut tells you, To the south of the village in the center of the Great Sandstorm. Five or six pyramids is all that remains now, but once there were other structures for the priests and guards and everyone else.
What do you know of it now?
Sebpherut tells you, Little, I fear. The Great Sandstorm rages, obscuring the remnants of the temple in the swirling sands. I overheard mention of a dig or an excavation or some such thing the other day, however.
Were there cultists there?
Sebpherut tells you, I am unsure, as I mentioned I merely overheard talk, but if you are looking for cultists then you might look on the other side of the ridge here. I saw cultists over there when out searching for sand scarabs the other day.
Sebpherut tells you, So the Priests of Nyrevin have no hold in your Empire at all? Praise be! I don't know how many children I saw dragged off to places unknown in their clutches. To think that we'll no longer have to live with the fear of losing our sons and daughters to them...
Teana tells you, So, you have ventured into the sands and braved the dangers there. What have you discovered?
There was a dig site filled with cultists and priests.
Teana tells you, You don't say? That is very curious, <player>. One might call that a clue. And what are these orders you recovered?
