Quest text[edit]

I trust that the Replica Tempered Scale was an asset in your adventures since the last time we spoke. To achieve the next status emblem I'm sure you're up to gathering some information for me? Alas I haven't made a Simulated Tempered Scale in many years and have forgotten what I need to fuel my Scale Forge. Go see Xerix in Dralk and ask about the scale you pursue. I'm sure Xerix will know what it takes.

Speak to Vladtmordt the Chronicler

The Tempered Scale was brandished by those who held sacred the rule of Lunus. Strict malice for opposition drove Malganival and his cohort to spend many years at the Scale Forge hardening and perfecting these scales. All this was to ensure a forceful advantage for the dragons that bore the scale.

Vladtmordt has sent you-- well then you've made a fine choice in taking advantage of the ways of the Lunus. Before I will entrust you with the knowledge needed to produce this scale you must endure a small test to prove your strength and determination. If you're not up to it you might as well give up on the Lunus now.

Talk with Xerix in Dralk

Make for Aughundell and see Barc the Blacksmith Trainer. Many young dragons have been sent his way; he'll know what I have sent you to do. Don't be shy either-- In situations like this we must take advantage of the other living races to ensure our own fate.

Visit Baric in Aughundell

Huh? What do you want? Oh, I see: Xerix sends yet another hatchling for a test of strength. It is ironic how he refuses to acknowledge the might of the Dwarves while using the might of our crafts to test your strength... even though he won't admit the might of the dwarves he cannot deny the might of our crafts! I've been crafting these Dragon Flasks for sometime now and they are of the sturdiest design. If you're able to smash one into fragments with only your claw then you'll have impressed me with your strength. Try not to find your way back to Xerix if you fail-- he doesn't fancy the weak. Return the fragments to Xerix as proof of your feat.

Use your strength to shatter the Dragon Flask

Game Feedback: This flask is much sturdier than you thought! Your first try just made it fly away. You sit near it, then remember your teachings about Lunus might. You close your eyes and make your mind go blank. You lift your claw above the flask and feel strength flowing through your body to your claw. You take a deep breath then crash you claw on the flask smashing it to pieces in a single blow!

Return the fragments to Xerix

Mighty Dragon! You've demonstrated your formidable strength. I shall grant you the key to unlocking the next scale in your path. First I must tell you not to abuse the power you earn. In this day bitter rivalries between the Helian must be set aside to face the common foe-- the Hordes and Lieutenants of The Withered Aegis. Understood? Fine then tell Vladtmordt to use a Nickel Golem Fragment to fuel the Scale Forge with intense heat to temper the scale properly.

Seems simple enough. Head out and collect me a Nickel Golem Fragment as my reserves have been depleted.

Return to Vladtmordt the Chronicler and tell him how to fuel the flame

Bring me a quality Obsidian Strength Chest Scale too. It'll make a fine base for the procedure.

Bring to Vladtmordt the Chronicler the required resources to create a Simulated Tempered Scale

Thank you, <player>, I have all what I need. It will take but five minutes to complete the scale.

Acquire a Nickel Golem Fragment. You will need to either loot it from a Nickel Golem or trade it from another player/consigner.

Game Feedback: You obtained a Nickel Golem Fragment. It seems qualitative enough to please Vladtmordt the Chronicler.

Acquire an Obsidian Strength Chest Scale. You will need to either craft it by yourself or trade it from another player/consigner.

Game Feedback: This finely crafted scale should fit the needs of Vladtmordt the Chronicler.

Wait for Vladtmordt the Chronicler to temper the scale

Game Feedback: Return to Vladtmordt and collect your prize.

Collect the Simulated Tempered Scale

Malganival Lunus once crested his core soldiers with a scale very similar to the Simulated Tempered Scale. So fight hard and strong to honor those before you. Always remember to be wary of your pride young dragon. The common enemy is upon us all.
