Now that you know the basics of combat, Sadie is going to teach you some more complicated tactics.

Quest text[edit]

Sadie tells you, You may have noticed already that we, as scouts, cannot wear the strongest armor. Platemail and Scalemail are simply too cumbersome for us. You may be able to swing a sword in full plate, but good luck drawing a bowstring! So, we rely on other ways to survive.

  • Didn't we already go over healing?
  • Sadie tells you, Yes - this isn't about healing! You should have just learned the ability Pinion. Pinion is a long-range shot that roots an enemy to the ground for a few seconds. You can use this to keep an enemy far from you, letting you pelt them with arrows or get away.
  • Is there any downside to using it?

Sadie tells you, For Pinion, there is not. However, many spells and abilities can be put into a category - roots, stuns, and mesmerizes. A root will hold an enemy in place, but not stop them from acting. A mesmerize will stop both, but will be broken after a few hits. A stun will stop everything for a period of time.

Sadie tells you, These three will cause a moment of immunity on your target after use, so be sure to time them right, as you cannot keep something permanently disabled! This goes for you, too, giving you a moment to recover.

Sadie tells you, I want you to go out and pin some spiders to practice. The Brown Spiders inhabit an area to the west of Pratt's Pond, along the road to the windmill and by their nest. Pratt's Pond can be found by following the road southeast out of the square. Check your map to not get lost!


It's surprising how much one pinned leg can do to something with eight. Return to Sadie once you've killed enough spiders.

That's enough spiders. Be sure to use Pinion enough before you return to Sadie.

Sadie tells you, Done? Wonderful. I hope you don't have arachnophobia. Istarian spiders get a lot bigger than those little pests!

Steps[edit]

  • Speak with Sadie.
  • Kill five (5) Brown Spiders. They lurk the region west of Pratt's Pond, along the road towards the windmill.
  • Use Pinion three (3) times.
  • Return to Sadie.
