Any self-respecting Gifted should know how to toughen yourself up with the use of a few spells. Acolyte Miry will teach you how.

Quest text[edit]

Miry tells you, A very important part of being a cleric is being able to cast boons on yourself or allies. Most boons are powered by augmentation, which we learn natively! There are many kinds of boons you will encounter in your travels. For now, I want to focus on a special kind - Gifts.

  • Gifts?

Miry tells you, Most boons have no limit and only conflict with similar boons. Gifts, however, have a total limit. Every twenty-five seasons, you gain another Gift slot, until you read a total of five at season one-hundred. Gifts are generally very powerful, so you need a lot of experience and mental fortitude to handle many at once!

  • -- Continue --

Miry tells you, Here. I want you to try a Gift spell. This is one of the augmentation based spells I spoke of - Gift of Resilience. It decreases incoming damage from enemies, lending you or your allies increased toughness.

The spell wraps around your body, invisible, providing a protective shield against attacks. You can feel its power humming along your skin.

Miry tells you, Feels wonderful, doesn't it? Boons are wonderful help, but be wary of enemies that can dispel them. Boons can be ripped off of you by dispelling magic, usually wielded by the Aegis. Banes are the opposite of boons, causing damage or weakening your abilities.

  • How do I get more spells?

Miry tells you, Here in New Trismus, Resliak the Great sells many spells, but most are crafted by Gifted like you. Scholars and spellcrafters are knowledgeable in piecing together spells. For a cleric, you'll want to spend some time investigating the potential spells you can learn for there's a wide range of them - including additional healing for yourself and alllies! For now, I just want you to try out your new power.

  • -- Continue --

Miry tells you, Gift of Resilience in this state is only a small increase, but a little goes a long way. Go find the Agh'kuk Scouts. They are one of the most intelligent creatures on this island, beside the undead and us living races, of course. Some may even be able to cast boons and banes of their own!

You have slain enough Agh'kuk Scouts. Return to Acolyte Miry.

Miry tells you, Welcome back, Elteria. I hope the Gift you cast served you well. Be sure to refresh it every few hours - the effects only last so long. Before we move on, I want to give you knowledge of one last piece of magic.

  • What is that?

Miry tells you, As a cleric, you can cast many helpful spells. Some, though, are still out of your reach. Scrolls are unique items that contain the magic of a spell, but do not need knowledge of spellcasting to use. They have a wide variety of uses - from shielding you to aiding in travel - but I only have a few simple ones on me. Take them. They can help you in your travels. If you want more, you'll need to find a Gifted scholar or learn the trade yourself!

You have received 3 Shield of Flame I.

You have received 3 Shield of Ice I.
