As your training progresses, Sergeant Gaedin expects you to retrieve a new blade to ensure the challenges ahead are more in your favor.
Quest text[edit]
Gaedin tells you, Ready for more training, <player>? Not with that worn down weapon; you won't last long in the field. You are now ready for a better blade that will serve you for the next few levels of training. With many weapons available to us, every several ranks you will be able to have a variety of choices than just one type.
- Where do I get a new weapon?
Gaedin tells you, That depends on you. In the beginning of your journey, you may find equipment from a Militia Surplus Officer who is stationed in their tiered region. You may also decide to obtain crafted equipment with specific techniques for more power than the basics sold by the Surplus Officers. This can only be done by Gifted, such as yourself or others.
- Will I need to craft a weapon now for training?
Gaedin tells you, For this lesson by me? No, <player>. You are to go meet our Surplus Officer. Frelic is surely to have a suitable weapon. Just tell him I sent you and he will be able to equip you.
You'll find him roaming the curved armory building in the town square.
Frelic tells you, Ah, welcome <player>. What are you looking to buy?
- Sergeant Gaedin told me you could get me a new blade... though he didn't mention payment.
Frelic tells you, To the West of town is a field rich with Copper and Tin ore that our miners and crafters alike gather to create weapons and equipment. They are who service me with additional supplies to provide for sale. However, supply has been low with the rise of Copper Golems roaming free. These golems are making the miners hesitate in gathering. I would ask you to defeat five golems and loot fifty chunks of ore from their corpses.
You have gathered enough Unrefined Ore!
Frelic tells you, Welcome back <player>. Did you succeed and bring me the ore? Ah, perfect. This will do nicely.
- And my blade?
Frelic tells you, Yes, yes, I didn't forget! Here you are, a Bronze Two-Handed Sword of Slashing! This hefty weapon will deliver powerful slashes at the expense of lacking a shield. I'm sure Sergeant Gaedin will have you learn with this. Ultimately, past this island, the choice of combat is yours.
This is your only hand out. If you want anything more you'll need to buy it, so do tell the Sergeant to stop sending his recruits to me with empty pockets!

Gaedin tells you, I see you've been equipped with a fine new blade! It looks far better than what you had before. Is it techniqued? Fantastic! It will take some getting used to. As I mentioned before, us warriors have a variety of weapons we can use. The Two-Handed types sacrifice defense in favor of more devastating blows.
Steps[edit]
- Speak with Sergeant Gaedin.
- Find and speak with Officer Frelic at the armory in New Trismus Square.
- Find and defeat enough Copper Golems to loot fifty (50) Chunks of Unrefined Ore. The Golems can be found directly west out of town, past the smelter and into the field.
- Return to Officer Frelic with the Unrefined Ore.
- Return to Sergeant Gaedin.
